The Jist of a Conversation

A very good friend of ours and I just had a wonderful conversation.  My opinions in the conversation were that, before America decides what to do in Syria, we have to know how America stands.  To put it a little closer to home, before I can go help my son, I need to know where John and I stand ourselves.  As much as we love our sons, if we aren't strong enough personally and financially and emotionally and physically, there's not much we can do for him.  We might need to go get our own house in order before we invade someone else's.

So, in my opinion, how does America stand?

I do not trust Obama's leadership in any venue, and Benghazi proves to me our military shouldn't trust him.  Ft. Hood also says Obama doesn't even stand up for Americans in America. (Workplace violence my eye!)
Our military capabilities have been degraded by Obama's orchestrated sequestration and downsizing.
Our military leadership, I fear, doesn't know how to fight.
Economically, America is too fragile.
America is not united on anything - and this is not going to unite us.
Even if America could find a unifying factor, Obama is not a person who can hold us together.
I personally believe the reason England voted to not participate in Syria is because they think Obama is a putz and they, too, believe he is a demagogue.
The world has -zero- respect for America - or they wouldn't be poking us in the eye.
America is not strong enough in and of itself to worry about what's happening elsewhere in the world.
And, oh by the way, America needs to stop it's own weapon of mass destruction: abortion.

This is not a hate-Obama litany.  They are facts.  I would have (had I been around then) trusted Roosevelt to lead America during World War II, and he was a Democrat.  When I was Mayor, the person I trusted most on Council was a black woman and a Democrat - and I would trust her in a heartbeat to lead this whole nation into a war! - so I'm not being a racist.

But, since this blog seems to be being read by folks in Russia and North Korea, don't you fools think for an instant that the American PEOPLE are not strong enough to whip your backsides all the way back across those oceans to your own countries.  We ARE individually the same Americans that we have always been:  independent, strong-willed, wily, and ARMED.  We don't need anybody's permission to stand our ground against evil.  Our military oath is to fight for America against enemies foreign and domestic.  As we say in Texas, you can bet your bottom dollar that we will do just that.

But go to Syria for the sake of Syrian's killing Syrian's with chemical weapons?  I think we should sit this one out and fight our own battles here at home.  (And, by the way, most folks I know in America own their own gas masks, just like Israel.)

Any comments will come to me privately. If they add to the conversation - whether I agree with them or not - I will post them. If they are full of discord and wrath or are not grounded in sound facts, I will NOT post them. It's my blog. Be civil or be quiet. I love a good political conversation; I abhor tactless arguments. I admire folks who can talk politics - or religion - and remain respectful. Check back later to see if your comment is posted. I may need time to verify facts. Thank you.
